When the butter softens and you put the dish in the refrigerator, the lid tends to stick to the bottom plate because the softened butter has spread somewhat. Instead of sliding a butter knife under the lid to pry it loose, or just let it sit awhile, my daugher pulled on the the microscopic knob on the top of the lid and broke it off. I don't feel like spending another $25.00 so, we use it without the microscopic knob at the top -- looks like heck, tho.
